Very glad we chose to go with Mathnasium after vigorously searching for local Tutoring programs!!!

Mathnasium was the turning point for our 8th grade daughter. Anxiety over math and feeling unintelligent were causing our usually outgoing 14 year old to feel very defeated. We weren't getting the help we needed from her school.

We used tutors and attempted to help her at home. Then a friend recommended Mathnasium. Just the diagnostic testing alone was worth every penny! Our daughter is working on a structured plan that she understands. She is very encouraged when she fills a learning gap and jumps forward in understanding.

In a very short time, she has completely changed how she views herself and her ability to learn. We didn't just want for our daughter to make good grades on tests. We wanted her to really understand the functions and be able to operate well in mathematics. Now we don't hear statements like, "Well, I can't be an engineer or an architect because I can't do math. Mathnasium first builds a foundation of skills which brings confidence which in turn builds self-esteem.

We have seen such an attitude change. She knows now that we care more about her really learning to think and to be proficient in a subject than to put to much value on making a good grade on a test or two. Whatever path she chooses, her choice will not be limited because of fear of math. April 24, April 7, It has been a wonderful resource to have the support he needed to close the gaps he had. Even though we have a ways to go, I like how they assess and challenge him to work through problem solving techniques and strategies!

March 30, The teachers are very helpful and I have certainly noticed that my child is doing better in school as well, they are very accommodating and will help your child in any way that they can. I would highly recommend them. My experience as a parent has been wonderful. I was able to build a close communicative relationship with the Director, Sanjay and his staff.

Trigonometry is a field of mathematics that plays an important role in a wide range of different careers. Trigonometry is, simply put, the study of triangles and the lengths and angles of their sides.

As one of the most important fields of mathematics, particularly for careers that are built around calculating angles, a working knowledge of trigonometry and its uses is important for students of all ages. Our online learning programmes make learning trigonometry easier for students of all ages. With consistent study, students can master all aspects of trigonometry and improve their mathematical skills. Trigonometry is the study of triangles — more specifically, the study of the angles and dimensions of triangles.

Although this might sound simple, trigonometry is a vital part of modern engineering, design, architecture and other fields. Trigonometry skills play an important role in a wide variety of careers, including architecture and engineering. The study of trigonometry involves learning how trigonometric functions — such as the sine or cosine of an angle, for example — can be used to work out the angles and dimensions of a particular shape.

Effective trigonometry courses should focus on teaching students about the most important trigonometric functions. They should also put these functions to use in practical exercises to help students develop their skills.

Diagram i shows what happens if we draw a radius from the centre of the circle to the right along the x axis we say this is in a positive direction. This creates a right-angled triangle. In Diagram ii , we have rotated the radius further in an anti-clockwise direction, past the vertical y axis into the next quadrant.

Sines and cosines are therefore all positive in value. Diagram iv shows the final quadrant. The 'Unit Circle' is a special case of the circle shown in the diagrams above. The Unit Circle has a radius of 1. This makes sense when you look at the unit circle diagram above. The cyclic nature of the sine and cosine graphs is incredibly important throughout science, nature and engineering. Examples include electrical applications alternating current , sound and radio waves, simple harmonic motion such as a swinging pendulum , the trajectory of satellites, or the rising and falling of the tide.

In the Sine and Cosine graphs above, the amplitude has a value of 1. In applications such as sound or electrical current, the amplitude varies, depending on the volume of the sound or magnitude of the current. The tangent graph does not have an amplitude wave-like characteristics because it has no maximum or minimum peak values.

At infinity positive or negative it is said to be undefined. Each of these vertical lines is called an asymptote. You can also work out the inverse function to sin, cos and tan, which means 1 divided by that function.

This enables you to work out the angle if you have the sin, cos or tan of it. Scientific calculators have sin, cos, and tan functions, as well as inverse functions.

Trigonometry also works for other triangles, just not in quite the same way. Instead there are two rules based on a triangle like this:. This is a reasonable question, and the answer is at least partly because those who decide the mathematics curriculum in many countries think that you should know about it, and for very good reason.
